I like to work out in the morning when the sun is coming up and the world is quiet and still.  It’s my favorite time of day, especially now that it is starting to get warmer in the mornings.  I still find that it’s easy to hit the snooze button and go back to sleep, especially if I don’t have a plan.   Here are a few strategies that I use to get out the door:

  1. Decide the night before exactly what activity and distance you are going to do.
  2. Pick the location of your workout before you go to bed.
  3. Lay out your clothes before you go to bed.
  4. Pick a race goal to focus on.

Without a plan, I have laid in bed so long trying to decide what I want to do and where I want to do it, that I have no time to actually do anything. Using the strategy that I outlined has helped me. I hope it helps you too.
